Inspection procedures for the Sanden AC compressor units, how to check for leaks
and the levels inside the compressor while on the vehicle. There are a few easy
procedures for inspection of the compressor units. The first is the visual
inspection which is just to inspect the compressor and see if there are leaks
that can be seen by the eye. Next there is the soap bubble test which is where a
soapy water is poured over the compressor and the escaping air will create
bubbles in the soap. Shops can also use electronic type detectors and they can
also do what is know as a dye test where a colored dye is injected into the ac
system and it will be extremely noticeable in the system where it is leaking.
When the oil level is suspected to be low it should be checked with the whole
system intact and fully charged.
