The A/C Compressor is a mechanical pump which is powered by a drive belt connected to the engine's crankshaft. The main job of the A/C compressor is to supply and regulate the flow of refrigerant throughout the system. The A/C system has a high pressure side and a low pressure side which are defined as discharge and suction. The compressor draws the refrigerant gas from the evaporator in the low pressure side, compresses at a high temperature and sends it to the condenser. The refrigerant vapor is then cooled and changed into liquid by the condenser.
The A/C compressor and the condenser are located in the engine compartment with the rest of the air conditioning system. You must check the air conditioning system regularly to ensure that it is working properly. If you own a Lincoln and are looking for a replacement part then you have come to the right place.
