The A/C Compressor is a mechanical pump which is powered by a drive belt connected to the engine's crankshaft. The main job of the A/C compressor is to supply and regulate the flow of refrigerant throughout the system. The A/C system has a high pressure side and a low pressure side which are defined as discharge and suction. The compressor draws the refrigerant gas from the evaporator in the low pressure side, compresses at a high temperature and sends it to the condenser. The refrigerant vapor is then cooled and changed into liquid by the condenser.
The A/C Compressor and the condenser are located in the outside air portion of the air conditioning system. You must check the air conditioning system regularly.
